The Cayman Islands evolved for many thousands of years without mammalian predators until humans arrived. Since the introduction of dogs, cats and rats to our islands, the populations of many of Cayman’s iconic native species have declined at alarming rates. The Sister Islands Rock Iguana (SIRI) which does not exist anywhere else in the world, and the Brown Booby colony on Cayman Brac, along with several other native birds, lizards and insects are severely threatened by the predatory instincts of roaming cats, dogs and rats which are not a natural part of the delicate island ecosystems of the Cayman Islands.

Description:
In 2024, Sustainable Cayman launched its first shoreline restoration project at Pirate’s Cove Nature Park — a small but powerful demonstration of how community-led environmental action can create lasting impact. Through interviews with executive team members and youth ambassadors, this short film explores why spaces like Pirate’s Cove matter — not only for coastal resilience and biodiversity, but for culture, identity, and belonging.
Participants reflect on the importance of restoring native vegetation and reshaping shorelines in ways that honour Cayman’s environmental and cultural history. They speak to a shared vision for the park: a public gathering space where people can reconnect with nature, with each other, and with their roots.
At its heart, the project is also a legacy for the next generation — a place shaped by youth, for youth, with the hope that it will continue to inspire stewardship for years to come.

Description:
SOUL'D OUT is a visually striking and thought-provoking short film that explores the tension between progress and preservation in the Cayman Islands. Through evocative imagery and poetic narration, the film questions whether the soul of the island is being sold off piece by piece or if a new legacy is being forged. It challenges viewers to reflect on the cost of development, the displacement of local culture, and the true value of home.
The film embodies liminality by capturing the Cayman Islands in a state of transition, caught between its rich heritage and an uncertain future shaped by commercial interests. It also evokes catharsis as it urges viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about loss, identity, and agency, ultimately leaving them with a renewed sense of responsibility and connection to their homeland.

Description:
AFTER THE IMPACT is a five-episode docuseries that brings the Cayman Islands Government’s National Road Safety Campaign to life through the eyes of Cayman’s first responders. Told through raw, emotional interviews, the series sheds light on the unseen realities behind serious and fatal crashes – from the first moment the 911 call comes through to the heart-wrenching responsibility of delivering devastating news to loved ones, each episode follows a different aspect of the emergency response, showcasing the courage, quick decisions, and emotional resilience demonstrated in some of the most tragic moments. By highlighting the human cost of reckless driving, AFTER THE IMPACT aims to shift public perception and encourage shared responsibility for safer roads across Cayman. The docuseries reinforces that every crash affects far more than just the individuals in the accident; it leaves lasting impacts on families, communities, and the responders who carry those memories long after the sirens fade.
